Homeless in Paradise

Los Angeles is famous for its Hollywood glamour and laid back beach atmosphere. Lesser known is the city's status as homeless capitol of the United States. More than 58 thousand people live on the streets, in parks, cars, doubled up with family and friends, hop from couch to couch or are cramped together in tiny motel rooms.

For Diane and her three kids this life became reality after she had to quit her job due to illness, her marriage fell apart and her savings dried up. They first lived in motels then moved from house to house making sure not to overstay their welcome. They were even sleeping in her car a few nights and finally lived in a corner of her mother's living room on two air mattresses. Diane now hopes for a new start. She has just found an apartment with the help of St. Joseph Center in Venice.
